Since 2014 I have been developing two fractions of a photographic project, ‘notes from berlin’ and ‘notes from hong kong’. This body of work explores the inter-connectivity between people, objects and places in everyday life. ‘notes from berlin’ is a mixture of idle and contemplative moments of people in public spaces that evoke surreal and dream like sentiments in the viewer. The images are punctuated with a mixture of everyday scenes and landscapes in which the urban present day makes a striking contrast to the nostalgic black and white. The construction and arrangements of these images is intended to create short narratives that tap into a visual unconscious of the viewer, re-examining memories of ‘place’.
